Nobody has produced, directed and starred in more NFL soap operas than Jerry Jones, who capped off a hell of a week by proudly accepting his Pro Football Hall of Fame ring in a halftime ceremony before Philadelphia ran his Cowboys out of the building in their worst loss in AT&T Stadium since it opened in 2009.
Kurt Benkert, QB, Virginia He will get called out for throwing a pick-six that ignited Miami’s defense Saturday, but he had his team up 28-14 in the second half against one of the best teams in the country. The senior has the size at 6-4, 215 pounds of an NFL quarterback and the arm strength as well. Putting up the numbers he did against Miami, completing 28 of 37 passes for 384 yards and four touchdowns, will catch a scout’s eye.
Jaquan Johnson, DB, Miami Johnson led the Hurricanes’ defense and with nine tackles (four solo), one sack and the interception returned for a touchdown.
The week began with the possibility of Teddy Bridgewater being active for the first time since the end of the 2015 season, as Case Keenum’s backup. On the other side, Washington hopes to get as many as four offensive starters back from injury (three on the line, plus tight end Jordan Reed). They got away with it (barely) in Seattle; they somehow have to mimic that against another elite defense and ferocious front line. Kirk Cousins should keep his head on a swivel.
The Patriots lead by 18 at the half. Brady throws for two touchdown passes in the opening 30 minutes. New England also has a kickoff return touchdown and a blocked punt.
