Jim Kiick, member of ’72 Dolphins, reportedly has ‘gaps’ in his brain

Former Dolphins running back Jim Kiick displays medical evidence of chronic traumatic encephalopathy, according to an NFL-approved neurologist (via Sports Illustrated).

Kiick has been suspected of having CTE over the last few years as he displayed gaps in his memory and started to drift into dementia. He was put into assisted living last year after he was found to be “living in squalor, failing to take care of either himself or his apartment and consuming an alarming amount of medications.”

But in the last few days his condition became clear, and it became more clear because of the medical research Dr. David B. Ross did on the two-time Super Bowl champion.

“Jim actually had signs of contusion: bruises,” Ross told Sports Illustrated. “You can see it clearly: It’s called ‘encephalomalacia’ — wasting or hardening; there are areas of the brain where there are gaps, and that’s where a specific brain injury occurred. It’s the stuff you see after significant localized head trauma or stroke. He has holes in his brain.”

Ross went on to explain that this is not dementia, Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s but a clear sign of brain trauma.

While Kiick is often the forgotten member of the ’72 Dolphins’ backfield alongside Larry Csonka and Mercury Morris, the impact he had on the game was enormous. Kiick was one of the first running backs to truly be a dual-threat in the running and receiving games.

In a nine-year career, Kiick finished with 3,759 rushing yards in addition to 2,302 receiving yards. But in a time when the equipment was not nearly as safe as it is today, Kiick took plenty of shots to the head as did teammate Nick Buoniconti and is now suffering the consequences.

“There’s no question that he suffered significant brain trauma,” Ross said.

Corey Davis’ sister wants a ‘booty’ with her brother’s NFL money

Elite Womens George Fant Jersey Good news for Corey Davis. New butts cost less than new cars.

The Western Michigan wide receiver prospect, who’s projected to land in or near the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, will be relatively wealthy soon, meaning he likely will be buying close relatives and friends gifts. Thanks to TMZ, he now knows what his oldest sister, LaToya, wants if her brother is in the giving mood.

The Titans picked former Western Michigan pass catcher Corey Davis Thursday with the fifth overall pick.

Longtime NFL receivers coach Jerry Sullivan, who retired in January after 25 years, spent time working with Williams and Davis.

Authentic Kids Robbie Gould Jersey Sullivan described Davis as a great kid and student of the game who had an exceptional career at Western Michigan. Davis has prototypical size at 6-3, 209 and good speed. He was a first-team All-American last season with 97 catches for 1,500 yards and an NCAA-best 19 touchdowns.

Davis helped the Broncos roll through an undefeated regular season and a MAC championship last year before losing to Wisconsin the Cotton Bowl. He joined Randy Moss as the only wide receivers from the MAC to be drafted in the first round.

His ankle injury wasn’t considered serious, but did prevent him from running at the combine and the WMU pro day.

LeBron James’ LeBron XIV retails at $175, with the customizable XIV iD series ringing up $220 before tax. Kevin Durant’s latest KD9 comes in at $150, while James Harden’s Harden Vol. 1 Series with Adidas run $140. Under Armour debuted Steph Curry’s Curry 3’s at $149.99, but has since slashed the price to $99.99.

And Paul George’s debut sneaker, the PG1, hit shelves this year at $109.99.

For some players, sneaker price is a status symbol. When Durant’s KD9 dropped last June, its $150 tag was $30 cheaper than that of its predecessor, the KD8. But it was still nearly twice as expensive as his debut sneaker, the KD1, that retailed for $88.

As humbly as I can say it, I’m not a $88 player, Durant said, according to Nick DePaula. I’m an elite player in the league. I wanted everything to be affordable, but I knew we had to sacrifice some stuff.

Jonathan Stewart Kids Jersey LaVar Ball thinks the world of his son. He’s twice claimed Lonzo Ball is better than Curry, a two-time league MVP. And at his $200 price tag, he’s doubled down on those sentiments.

Now only two questions remain: Can Lonzo’s play back up his father’s talk? And more importantly, will the kicks be fire?

You can tell how competitive a Warriors game is by how many minutes Steph Curry plays in the fourth quarter. If Golden State is worried or it’s a legitimate dogfight, Curry plays seven or eight minutes. If it gets a bit touchy, he plays four or five. On Tuesday in Game 1 against the Jazz, he played 23 seconds in the fourth. Utah’s offense just got squeezed hard by Draymond Green and Kevin Durant. It felt at times that Golden State was playing at 75 percent yet still led by 20. Scary, scary team.

If you don’t love Steve Ballmer at his Devastated By Joe Johnson’s Daggers, you don’t deserve him at his Apoplectic At Chris Paul’s Genius. The Point God struck again Friday night, racking up 29 and eight as the best player on the floor by no small measure. He did it in Utah, one of the toughest places for road teams to play. He did it facing elimination and with Blake Griffin out.

Game 7 will be Sunday (3:30 p.m. ET, ABC). That will be our only Game 7 in the first round, though.

The Wizards went up big on the Hawks in their Game 6 on Friday … and the Hawks steadily climbed back into it, getting close late in the fourth. Then John Wall went fully bonkers, dropping 12 straight points on a mix of jumpers and drives to the rim. Then he taunted Julio Jones, sitting courtside, and said goodbye to Atlanta. So petty!

Milwaukee’s offense has hit a rut at an inopportune time, averaging just 84.5 points per game over the last two games in this series after putting up 100.3 points per game through the first three games of the series.

With the exception of Game 5, the Bucks have done a good job of keeping Toronto’s explosive offense in check this postseason, but they’ll need to find their own rhythm on offense again if they hope to extend this series. The Bucks are 4-13 SU and 7-10 ATS in their last 17 playoff games.

Thursday’s total is set at 195 points. The UNDER is 13-4-1 in Milwaukee’s last 18 postseason games.

Despite the close nature of this series with both team splitting at home and on the road through the first four games, all but one game has been decided by 11 points or more. Milwaukee will try to get back on the right side of a blowout and force a Game 7 with a home win.

NBA playoff schedule 2017: Raptors, Spurs look to close out series

Thursday night will bring us two elimination games as Raptors-Bucks and Spurs-Grizzlies will both play in their respective Game 6 of each series. The Bucks and Grizzlies have both showed fight as the underdogs in each matchup but will have to pull out home wins in order to keep their seasons alive.

It seemed as if Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks had the Raptors number early in this series. After the Bucks jumped out to a 2-1 lead, the Raptors have won back to back games and now lead the series 3-2. This Milwaukee Bucks team is filled with potential but they are lacking playoff experience like all good young teams do. We’ll see what they’re made of with their backs against the wall on Thursday. The same could be said for the Raptors though. If they’re for real, they won’t let this get to a Game 7.

The second game of the night is Spurs-Grizzlies with Game 6 back in Memphis. The Spurs jumped out to a 2-0 lead but after Game 2 postgame rant from Grizzlies coach David Fizdale, the Grizzlies found new life. Memphis bounced back and won the next two games at home, extending the series as much as they could. The Spurs now lead 3-2 going into tonight’s game but Memphis has been fantastic at home, so anything could happen.

Once again, Bird vowed there would be change and a faster tempo for Pacers in the 2016-2017 season. His first move was to hire Pacers assistant coach Nate McMillan without much of a public coaching search. The problem is, McMillan has never been known as a coach who excelled in pace. As a head coach, his teams finished 24th, 27th, 15th, 27th, 28th, 29th, 29th, 30th, 30th, and 30th respectively in pace. His teams have always been quite slow, in fact. Why was Nate McMillan the choice to coach a faster-paced team?

Definitely draft O.J. Howard if you’re an NFL team that plays Clemson

Former Alabama tight end O.J. Howard put together a modest career during his four seasons with the Crimson Tide, at least statistically speaking. The former five-star recruit’s stat line for 2013 and 2014 combined was just 529 yards and two touchdowns. The next two seasons, his numbers were a bit higher, with 1,197 yards and five touchdowns.

If you follow college football closely and hadn’t heard of Lattimore before last season, you may have first noticed him in Ohio State’s 45-24 win over the Oklahoma Sooners.

It came on the heels of a breakout game against Tulsa the week before, which earned him National Player of the Week honors. Lattimore had two picks in that Ohio State victory, and he returned one for a touchdown.

Jamie Meder Kids Jersey But that was Tulsa. The Sooners were ranked, it was a road night game that was nationally televised, and Lattimore and his teammates wanted to make Oklahoma pay after the Sooners’ backup quarterback said Ohio State’s defense was basic.

Lattimore sure didn’t look basic as he racked up five tackles and an interception against Oklahoma. That was just the beginning of Lattimore’s star-making season.
The Philadelphia NFL Draft event is slated to be the largest fan experience ever produced by NFL.

One of the cool things about the theater itself is that it’s open-ended, which will give fans along the parkway the opportunity to see what’s happening on stage.

As far as some of the other logistics go, the NFL executives will be at the Franklin Institute, which lies down the Parkway on the other side of the NFL Draft Experience. The prospects’ green room is located backstage during the draft. When their names are called, they will walk down the famous steps to greet NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell with a handshake.

Dolphins pick Charles Harris based on football talent, not workout numbers

Missouri has been a factory for pass-rushing defensive linemen in recent years. Since 2011, players like Aldon Smith, Sheldon Richardson, Kony Ealy, and Shane Ray have all been snapped up with premium draft picks after wrapping up their careers in Columbia.

The first round of the NFL draft is over, and most of the top-notch players in this draft class now have chances to prove to their new teams why they were worth first-round picks. Many blockbuster trades, big risks, and surprise picks occurred along the way.

The Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals rules that the district court’s reasoning in deciding not to release the video is incorrect. Now, according to NewsOK, the district court has to determine whether the video can be released on the grounds that the public’s interest in the surveillance video outweighs the reason for denying access to it.

There is still no decision regarding whether the video will ultimately be released.

Jimmer Fredette Elite Jersey Deshaun Watson says it would be a slap in the face for Mitchell Trubisky to be drafted before him

Days before the draft, Watson said teams would live with the consequencesif they draft Trubisky instead of him. On Thursday, Watson doubled down on those comments, saying it would be a slap in the faceif Trubisky comes off the board first. Well, Trubisky was drafted before Watson. The Bears traded up with the San Francisco 49ers to take Trubisky with the second overall pick.

I am excited to be joining the New Orleans Saints. Im really looking forward to this opportunity. Most importantly, I chose this team because it just felt right within my spirit. Additionally, my wife and family added their confirmation with the same feelings. On offense, it goes without saying that the Saints are really solid behind Drew Brees. I feel like my skill set can make them even more dominant as a unit.

Peterson will share carries with running back Mark Ingram, who ran for over 1,000 yards in 2016 in his best season since being drafted by New Orleans in 2011. It will be the Saints hope that by reducing Petersons role and making him a complementary running back there will be less wear-and-tear on his knees, which have caused Peterson to miss the majority of two seasons in the last three years.

Fans wont need to wait long to see if there are any bad feelings between Peterson and the Vikings, as New Orleans and Minnesota are set to face each other in the first week of Monday Night Football.

Arizona’s season ended with an upset loss to 11th-seeded Xavier in the Sweet 16.

Trier immediately became Arizona’s primary offensive option upon his return. He was brilliant during the Wildcats’ run to the Pac-12 tournament championship, scoring 20 points to beat No. 3 UCLA in the semifinals and 23 points to defeat No. 5 Oregon in the tournament title game.

Arizona’s season ended with an upset loss to 11th-seeded Xavier in the Sweet 16. The future of the roster was very much in question. Lauri Markkanen had an easy decision to declare for the NBA draft, and fellow freshman Kobi Simmons followed him out the door. Rawle Alkins, Miller’s third freshman star, has also declared for the draft but elected not to sign with an agent, leaving the door open for his return.

Trier was the biggest question mark. He was projected as a second-round pick, but has decided to return to school without even testing the NBA waters. He’ll hope to be next season’s Buddy Hield or Justin Jackson: A veteran college player who boosts his NBA stock by returning to school and having a monster season.

The Pacers lost Game 1 against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday, but it was close — a 109-108 loss that came down to a final missed shot at the buzzer. For a minute, though, it looked like Cleveland was pulling away. At the end of the third quarter, the Cavaliers led by eight, and they immediately expanded that lead to 10 points by making the first shot of the fourth quarter.

Instead, Stephenson happened. From the moment he checked into the game with 2:11 left in the third quarter to the time he left late in the fourth, he scored 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting with an assist. They were classic, quintessential Stephenson shots — aggressive pull-up jumpers with no regard for the consequences. Sure, they might not go in. But they probably were, and in that 12-minute stretch, they did.

The 2017 NBA playoffs are set! The Pacers and Bulls won their season finales against VERY TIRED and thus RESTING teams, negating Miami’s win against an also tired and resting team to clinch the final two Eastern Conference playoff spots. Heat fans did not take it well, especially when it came to the Nets sitting their starters against Chicago for no good reason. But man, despite missing out in the end, the Heat had a really special season.
